Description
This is an absolutely OUTSTANDING WWII artist's sketchbook type of piece. The artwork in this booklet is ALL original, either pencil, ink or watercolor. The size of the booklet/pages is approximately 8 1/4" X 5 7/8". I have photographed every page with artwork or notation (there are a fair amount of blank pages remaining, though the artwork is scattered throughout). It looks to my untrained eye, like the landscape paintings are of France, and the pencil drawing of the soldier that almost looks to be sleeping, has a notation written above it reading "Franz". So one could assume that this is possibly a German soldier sketching a fellow soldier (Franz) while he slept, OR one could assume that it is a French/U.S./British POW sketching a German guard? The same sketch has the letters "RAD" near the top of the page, which COULD possibly stand for "Royal Air Defense"? The whole thing is a giant mystery, which is why I have held onto it for many. MANY years. However, the time has come for a NEW owner to embark on this mystery, so I am auctioning it off here, on ebay, to the highest bidder. If you have any questions, or have any information that might help solve this mystery, please don't hesitate to contact me.
